My collection of classic Homie figurines. I hoarded quarters as a teenager to get them from the machine in the Winn Dixie. Then my boyfriend/now-husband and I would melt them together to create new super homies. Any left I super-glued to my bedroom wall at my parents house, hence why most of them have drywall stuck to their feet.
I made this for our bathroom, the natural moisture should keep it alive forever, plus it gives me an excuse to use my collection of over 100 classic Homie figurines. I may make a tutorial on it later, but it’s a pretty straightforward project if you already have large patches of moss growing near your house.
A sketch from today, I want to add more to it, but I like it so far and I’m afraid I’ll fuck it up if I keep going.
It’s inspired by my personal struggle with chronic stomach pain. It’s one of those things I don’t think you can truly understand unless you’ve lived with it. I’ve been to several doctors and there isn’t anything specifically wrong with me, so there is nothing I can do, but I’ve had fairly constant stomach pain all my life, and it’s not to terrible, but it definitely effects your lifestyle and mood. Supposedly Kurt Cobain suffered from the same thing, and I’m not sure if that makes me feel better or worse.
This is a garden table that I made from a miller lite beer cooler I won in a grocery store raffle. I painted the outside with acrylic paint, and will probably add more to it later on. The inside is all a planter with carrot tops, thyme, morning glories, and zinnias. It’s topped off with a beer bottle terrarium and a planter recycled from an ice cream container.
